SUGAR COOKIES

Sugar Cookies:

1 cup of butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp of Almond Extract
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Cream butter. Add powdered sugar and blend in egg. Blend in almond extract, vanilla, salt and flour.

Chill the dough until it's firm (at least an hour, but can be left overnight) It will feel really hard, and you may think you ruined it, but just work with it and it will become doughy again. Roll out on a floured work area. I leave mine pretty thick, about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheets or parchment at 375 for 8-10 minutes. They should NOT brown if you want them softer.

Buttercream Frosting:

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup butter softened
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1-2 TBS milk or heavy cream

Directions:
Mix powdered sugar and butter with mixer on low speed. Stir in vanilla and 1 TBS of the milk. Gradually beat in just enough milk to make the frosting smooth. If frosting is too thick add more milk, if its too thin, add more sugar
